Help UP-PGH Save the Brain

Let’s Save the Brain is a non-profit organization that was established with the aim of assuring excellent medical care for indigent patients of the Department of Neurosciences, University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH).

With a donation amounting to Php 12,500 (~USD 310), you can provide a ventriculoperitoneal shunt to a child with hydrocephalus, to prevent progressive head enlargement and possibly help achieve a normal IQ.

Without treatment, a patient with a ruptured aneurysm has a 4% chance of re-bleeding during the first 24 hours, increasing to a cumulative risk of 20% (or 1 out of 5 patients) in two weeks. By giving Php 11,500 (~USD 290), you can donate a metal clip that will be used to secure the patient’s aneurysm. By preventing a re-bleed, you save the patient from possible death and help the patient return to his or her normal life without disability.

Every peso counts. Let’s Save the Brain will appreciate any amount of contribution that you can give to the charity patients of UP-PGH Department of Neurosciences.

    • Hi Lhen! Yes, the account is still good. You can call the office number indicated to confirm. I’m afraid Union Bank is the only bank where you can make a donation at this time.

      • Ahh okay po Doc, thank you so much. I’ll try to search for the nearest union bank around my place because I think I’ve never seen any before, or maybe i just didn’t notice. 🙂

  8. hi, is this site only for donations? how about those who are seeking help? My brother-in-law is in need of help. He is confined in PGH, for coiling of brain aneurysm but was told the equipment is not working. Is there any option for us who are not capable to go to expensive hospitals?

    • Hi Cristine, I’m sorry but I do not give out medical advice online. I suggest that you discuss the treatment options with the resident who’s taking care of your brother-in-law.
